RESIDENTS at an Alcester care home were among the top two per cent of the country to receive the Covid-19 vaccine first.

Staff at Barchester’s Cherry Trees were also vaccinated when the care home visited University Hospital Coventry for their jabs.

General manager Debbie Osborne said having the jab lifted everyone’s spirits.

“Last year was a year like no other but this vaccine feels like the light at the end of the tunnel,” she said.

“Our teams have been magnificent in how they have risen to every challenge during this pandemic and we are very proud to play our part in this next phase of ensuring the most vulnerable are protected.”

Rachael Norton-Voysey, a staff member at Cherry Trees, added: “I am so pleased to be given the vaccine, it will help to keep our residents safe.

“It is the first step in getting things back to normal and having the buzz of visitors in the home again.”

Despite the lockdown, the Stratford Road care home is still taking in new residents.

Cherry Trees can be contacted on 01789 443 158 if you or someone you know needs care.
