Return to the top: Michael takes chain of office at Redditch Rotary

Redditch Editorial 11th Jul, 2020   0

THE Rotary Club of Redditch has a new President with Michael Ostroumoff taking over from President, Derek Dixon.

Over the last 12 months the club has supported local charities including Carers Careline, Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra, Worcestershire Acute NHS Hospitals Charity, Severn Freewheelers and the Trussell Trust together with the international charities Shelterbox and Aquabox.

Last year the Club provided an opportunity for children to take a holiday and paid for others to see the pantomime at the Palace – for some, this was the first time they had visited a theatre.

Mike has been President twice before, most recently in 2012-13 year and his experience should prove invaluable in leading the club in activities and supporting charities.

Due to the challenge of the Covid-19 virus the Redditch Rotarians have been missing their regular face-to-face meetings, turning to new technology to maintain contact.

Plans to provide a holiday for children have had to be reassessed whilst sponsoring a visit to this year’s pantomime is still under consideration.

Like many clubs, the pandemic has proved a challenge but the Rotarians say they are looking forward to the future, finding new ways to meet in fellowship and support their chosen charities.
