Rhyme master Spoz makes poetry fun for Redditch schoolchildren

Imogen Buller 13th Feb, 2018

POETIC pupils in Redditch recently welcomed a special guest who helped them put some sparkle on their language skills.

Year 7 children at Birchensale Middle School took part in a Poetry Slam day, run by the Birmingham poet and former poet laureate, Spoz.

The youngsters spent the day working on their poetry skills as well as building up confidence and by the end of the day, they had learnt new skills, written their own poems and realised poetry can be fun.

Laura Ridgewell, Head of English at Birchensale, said:β€œIt was a great day and the pupils left full of enthusiasm – something they took back to their English lessons too! Well done to the winning team: Bracket Bros, who will be performing in the district championship, at the Palace Theatre in April.”
