REDDITCH & Bromsgrove Rock Choir delighted audiences at a summer tea party organised by Redditch-based charity Contact The Elderly last Sunday, June 17.

Around 30 senior citizens who live alone attended the tea party at Beoley Village Hall where Rock Choir serenaded them with songs from the 1960s to the present day.

“We loved singing for the tea party guests,” said Rock Choir Leader Christa Hugo.

“It was so special to see them enjoying the music, and we were thrilled when several ladies got up to dance! Contact

“Contact The Elderly provides such an important service in fighting loneliness and we were moved to see what an impact our music had on the guests.”

Charity volunteer Linzi Hill was bowled over by the choir. “Rock Choir put on a brilliant performance,” she said.

“I’ve had lots of lovely feedback from everyone. They were a real hit with our guests.”

Contact The Elderly organises monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for older people aged 75 and over who live alone, offering a regular and vital friendship link every month.

There are no auditions in Rock Choir and no previous musical experience is necessary.

Redditch Rock Choir rehearses at Studley Sports Centre on Abbeyfields Drive on Wednesdays at 8pm and the Bromsgrove wing rehearse at All Saints Church Hall on Burcot Lane on Tuesdays at 8pm.
