ALCESTER and Stratford District Round Table have been in contact with Santa and they’re delighted to announce he’s agreed for us to accompany him on hjis annual round.
Covering Alcester, Bidford, Welford, Lower Quinton, Meon Vale and Studley it’s starting on Saturday, December 5 in Bidford and running for 14 nights until December 18.
Tablers spokesman Paul Jackson said: “This year will be a little different, as we are not able to have local groups helping out, and can’t knock on doors or give out chocolate.
“However, our members will have collection buckets to receive any cash donations, and we have set up an online donation page at www.justgiving.com/campaign/alcestersanta2020 – we’d love for people to donate if they can via that page.
“We’re again grateful for the amazing support of Listers Honda Stratford for supplying the reindeer power of a car to pull the sleigh.”
With the Tablers unable to host any of their other annual fundraisers such as the Pig Roast, Beer Festival or pork bap stall at Alcester’s St. Nicholas Night, no money has been raised at all this year so they’re hoping Santa will help us raise as much as possible for great local causes.
“The sleigh last year raised an amazing £6,575 which was distributed in January,” said Paul.
“We’d love to raise another fantastic amount this year as well, though we are realistic that without being able to knock on doors and with most people having a tough year, such an amazing total may not be possible.
“Santa won’t be leaving the sleigh and the sleigh won’t stop during the routes and please stay at least two metres away from the sleigh and elves.”
