Royal British Legion in need of helpers for Poppy Appeal

Redditch Editorial 9th Oct, 2019   0

AN urgent call for recruits to help this year’s Poppy Appeal has been issued by the Redditch branch of the Royal British Legion.

Last year the team raised £46,123 for the Royal British Legion’s biggest fundraising campaign, smashing the 2017 total by thousands of pounds.

“A big thank you must go to the people of Redditch, young and old, for their generosity in raising such a large amount,” said local Appeal organiser Gerry Marsden.

“Also to all our volunteers, the local branch of the Royal British Legion, to Sainsburys, Asda, Morrisons and the Kingfisher Shopping Centre who once again were marvellous in their support.

“Another special thank you to the lady who made all the teddy bears and the lady who did the cake sale. Thanks also to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.”

This year Gerry is once again appealing for help.

“Ideally we are looking for people who can give up two to four hours of their time,” he said.

“We want to raise as much money as possible and we have to cover three supermarkets and the Kingfisher Shopping Centre so we need quite a bit of help.”
