REDDITCH Royal British Legion’s (RBL) poppy appeal has officially been launched.
The Redditch RBL branch will be out in force to raise funds to provide financial, social and emotional support to millions of serving and ex-servicemen and women and their families.
This year’s appeal was launched at the Kingfisher Centre by members of the Redditch RBL, poppy appeal co-ordinator Gerry Marsden and his assistant Nicki Farnes.
Mr Marsden who has held the role of Poppy Appeal Coordinator in Redditch for seven years, said: “We are most grateful to everyone who donates to the Poppy Appeal, last year in Redditch we raised £48,727.71 due to the generosity of Redditch folk.
“The success of the local Poppy Appeal would not be possible without the support of our wonderful volunteers, in particular, I would like to pay tribute to Nicki Farnes who has been my assistant Poppy Appeal Coordinator for many years.”
Poppies are on sale throughout Redditch until November 10.
