IT WAS a right royal day for Borough Mayor Councillor Gareth Prosser and his wife Lynn last Wednesday when they were invited down to join the Queen’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.
Hosted by Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton and Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, they joined a throng of people being recognised for serving their community.
“It was a very proud day for the both of us, one of the proudest of my life, to be there representing the Borough of Redditch and its residents,” said the Mayor.
Coun Prosser (Con, Crabbs Cross) is coming to the end of his term as mayor, having served for two years, the first scarred by the impact of Covid and the lockdown.
“Despite all that, one of the most important memories I have is the attitude of people in the community, the way they all pulled together under very trying circumstances.
“That really impressed me and stands out more than anything.”
His chosen charities were Redditch Association for the Blind and the Redditch-based Disability Support Project.
A new mayor will be chosen on Monday, May 23 when Redditch full council meets at the Town Hall.
