THE Astwood Bank Carnival Royalty has been announced ahead of this summer’s spectacular Wonderful World of Books themed celebrations.

Taking place on Saturday, July 11, Queen Sarah will lead the festitvities, alongside Aerona and Nevaeh, the Carnival Princesses, Prince Luke and Eleanor and Charli – the Carnival Rosebuds.

This year will be the 39th Carnival and organisers say it is set to be another unforgettable weekend packed with community spirit, entertainment, and celebration.

The theme ‘The Wonderful World of Books’ aims to bring favourite stories and characters to life as the village transforms into a colourful celebration of imagination and creativity.

Festivities begin on Friday, July 10, with the ever-popular Summer Sundowner, setting the tone for a spectacular carnival weekend filled with live entertainment, great company and summer celebrations.

Carnival Day on Saturday is expected to see thousands of people line the streets from 12pm as the famous procession makes its way through the village.

The 2026 Carnival Royalty will proudly make their debut in the parade.

There will be all the fun of the fair with thrilling rides for the adventurous, animal attractions and traditional Punch and Judy entertainment from Professor Collywobbles.

The main arena will offer lots of family entertainment with a fun falconry show and a historic performance from Normannis.

The Shaun Paul Smith Dance Academy, Lucy Janes School of Dance and Helena Jane Dance Academy will also be showcasing their skills.

And dog lovers will not want to miss the fun-filled Dog Show in the canine arena where pooches of all shapes and sizes can compete in light-hearted categories from ‘waggiest tail’ to ‘handsomest hound’.

For 2026, Attwell Farm Park has been welcomed to the showground and will be bringing along a wonderful range of animals for everyone to enjoy, giving visitors the chance to get up close and learn more about life on the farm.

Organisers said: “Astwood Bank Carnival is the highlight of the village calendar and a true celebration of community spirit.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone for another fantastic weekend.”

The event remains free to attend, with donations welcomed to help support the carnival as it looks ahead to its landmark 40th year in 2027.
