Rubbish collection

Redditch Editorial 1st May, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

ALMOST 50 industrial bags of rubbish were collected from the streets of Hopwood by community-minded residents.

More than 30 people, mainly residents of Lea End Lane and one from Lower Hopwood, joined forces to clear the roads and lanes of litter, spoiling the appearance of the village.

Tim Parsons organised the event which was supported by Bromsgrove District Council which provided litter picking equipment.

Parish councillor Adrian Smith, who is also Chairman of Hopwood Residents Association, thanked Mr Parsons and the district council and said everyone involved deserved a big pat on the back.

“Afterwards, it was a delight to drive round and Hopwood looked far better for it, how long it lasts is up to those thoughtless litter louts.”

He urged residents, now the clean had been carried out, to keep the area clean and tidy.

A further event is being planned for the autumn and anyone in Hopwood can be involved.
