Rural Redditch churches unite to spread festive cheer overseas

SCHOOLS, a Guide pack and five churches have come together to help Romanian children this Christmas – one box at a time.

Over 420 decorated and filled shoe boxes have been collected across Astwood Bank, Feckenham, Stock and Bradley, Stoke Prior, Upton Warren and Wychbold to help spread a little Christmas cheer this year.

Speaking after a Blessing and Sending service on Sunday (November 20) to send the boxes on their journey, Reverend Gary Crellin of St John the Baptist Church, Feckenham, said: “It’s great that these disparate communities have come together to help others less fortunate at Christmas.

“Working with Teams 4 U charity has given our communities a platform to do such a wonderful thing – spread a little love and care to others – one box at a time.

“Although we tried to get help and sponsorship, in the end it came down to good natured people to get a shoe box and fill them and donate them. It will be an absolute privilege to take these boxes out to Romania.”
