A KIND-HEARTED group of fund-raisers are gearing up to cycle the 153 miles to Blackpool in aid of children’s charity CLIC Sargent.
Lawrence O’Connor, known more commonly known around the town centre as Lar, is heading up the challenge which will see around 50 participants take part.
The group will leave the town’s Rising Sun Wetherspoon pub at 6am on August 1 and will be joined for the final few miles by Lar’s father.
Lar is more used to launching himself off the ropes of a boxing ring at his Viking Boxing & Fitness Club in Millsborough House than long-distance cycling but he’s no stranger to fund-raising.
Last year he completed a sky dive for CLIC Sargent which, with 10 children and young people in the UK diagnosed with cancer every day, provides clinical, practical and emotional support to youngsters and their families.
