A SALSA dancing son managed to hoodwink his mum into going to what she thought was to see him compete in a national competition – when it fact it was her 90th birthday party.
The surprise – six months in the planning – was sprung by Doreen Allbutt’s eldest son Michael and caught her totally off guard.
“Mum was astounded, she was so surprised she was in tears, all her friends and relatives from miles around were there and it was a wonderful evening,” said Michael, aged 67.
Doreen, from Winyates Green, was born in Walsall but has lived in Redditch nearly all her life.
Michael caught the salsa bug three years ago and now dancers three times a week in Redditch, Bromsgrove and Droitwich.
