A PAIR of Solihull schools have been named among some of the best in the country
Solihull School has been named The Sunday Times Independent Secondary School of the Year in the West Midlands 2026 and St Mary’s RC Primary School, Henley-in-Arden has been named Small Primary School of the Year 2026.
They have been listed as part of the respected Parent Power Guide – widely acknowledged as the most authoritative survey of the country’s top schools.
The guide includes a fully searchable national database of more than 2,000 schools by name, local authority, town and postcode.
As well as an assessment of academic results on a school-by-school basis, Parent Power enables parents to compare the performance of a given school with other schools in the same area, local authority or nationally.
Charles Fillingham, headmaster of Solihull School, said: “Solihull School is in the top one per cent of schools nationally in terms of pupil progress.
“The school has a fantastic community of pupils, staff, parents and friends. Our strength is seeing each child as an individual. You don’t have to fit a mould at Solihull – each pupil can find his or her own place here.”
St Mary’s Primary School, told the Observer: “We are just blown away by this.
“For such a small school of only 100 pupils it is a huge achievement. We are over the moon with it.”
