Sculptures take shape for new arts trail in Redditch

THE FIRST of four tree carvings set to form a new arts trail at Redditch’s Morton Stanley Park is taking shape.

The fox will join three more sculptures of animal kingdom residents at the 95-acre park in a new family-friendly and accessible trail set to open this spring.

The animals are being hewn by artist Andy Decomyn throughout March from sections of an oak tree, felled at Pitcheroak Golf Course several years ago.

Andy’s previous work includes the National Miners Memorial and Redditch’s own Holocaust Memorial on Church Green.

He said: “The oak is lovely to work with, and it will last a long time.

“Children and adults will be able to enjoy these sculptures for many years to come.”
