Shipping business investing £800,000 in new Redditch home

A SHIPPING containers business is recruiting new staff as part of an £800,000 investment in its new headquarters in Redditch, supported by Redditch property agents John Truslove.

Budget Shipping Containers has bought 5,526 sq ft of offices and stores at Neptune Works, on Beoley Road West in Redditch, as its new headquarters.

The company paid £575,000 for the building and is aiming to invest £250,000 on upgrading and improving the site over the next three years, according to managing director Chris Osborne.

As part of the company’s expansion, it is also recruiting more staff for its core base.

Chris Osborne said: “We had been looking for bigger premises and saw the Neptune Works was available. We had been looking to rent, but good offices are in short supply.

“These were the right premises at the right price, so we decided to buy. We’ll now be investing, to turn them into top spec offices and to install solar power, so we can rent out the space we don’t need right now. And, of course, we’ll be using John Truslove as our leasing agents.

The move from Wythall now offers Worcestershire a local, established, and reputable source of shipping containers, storage containers, and converted shipping containers locally.

Chris added: “This site is just on the edge of the centre of town and couldn’t be much easier to reach for staff travelling by car as well as local public transport or bike commuters.

“It’s location next to the Cricketer’s Arms Pub and opposite Micky’s Chippy – which we hear is the best chippy in town – is a very handy co-incidence.”

Ian Parker, joint managing director at John Truslove, said: “We are delighted to have been able to work with Chris at the team at Budget Shipping Containers again – this time helping them seal a deal for a permanent new home.

“We hope we have been able to play some small part in their continuing success, ensuring they always are able to operate from premises that meet their needs. It is part of the service we continue to offer to companies and landlords across this region.”
