A NUMBER of kind-hearted Young Frankenstein cast members showed their community spirit by collecting donations on behalf of Redditch Nightstop.
The cast, all members of Studley Operatic Society, collected essential items for the charity including toilet roll, toiletries, kitchenware, cleaning supplies and non-perishable food.
Chairperson for Studley Operatic Society, Lorraine Hill, said: “I am so proud of what our cast pulled together, and I hope it goes a long way to supporting local young people in need.
“We love to support – especially in these very difficult economic times.
“We are putting on Mel Brooks’ ‘Young Frankenstein’, a hilarious musical comedy, who also was the producer of ‘the acclaimed musical ‘The Producers’ in 2015.”
The Nightstop charity provides homelessness prevention support for those aged between 16 to 35 years.
The aim of the support is to enable people to overcome barriers to access accommodation,.
Charity manager, Susan Sadler, who attended the cast rehearsal to receive the donation, said: “We are delighted that the members of the Studley Operatic Society has chosen to support our charity.
“We are regularly supporting up to 60 people at any one time so these items will be directly distributed where a need arises.
“The support that we receive like this from the local community has a dual purpose in that it promotes our work and provides much needed items – it means a lot to us and our clients.”
