Simply eating breakfast helped me shed five stone, says Redditch man

A REDDITCH man has lost nearly five stone and turned his life around – and it’s all down to one word: Breakfast.

“Breakfast is key – 48 per cent of people in the UK have no breakfast and of those that do, 77 per cent have a sugar-based breakfast,” said 39-year-old Jamie Strain.

“People think to lose weight you’ve got to do lots of exercise but I reckon it’s 80 per cent nutrition – what you put in your body – and 20 per cent exercise, over and above what you’d normally do.”

And the car bodywork painter is so pleased he’s busy now helping others lose weight.

“I used to be nearly 20 stone and it really affected my confidence, I was having real problems around people,” said Jamie, from Lodge Park.

Motivated to do something about it, he lost four stone but was still unhappy, more so when, at a Herbalife weigh-in he still had a higher ratio of body fat than any of the other slimmers.

Now his recipe for success starts with breakfast: He has a protein shake, lunch can be chicken and spinach and he enjoys an evening meal, with snacks in between. Two no-no’s are bread and sugar.

“Having said that I have a bacon sandwich on a Sunday, and although I’m not a drinker if I fancy a few beers on a Saturday it’s done me no harm,” he said.

He’s now helped both his mum Rosa and girlfriend Sally to shed a few pounds too. However, he still bears the scars of his former self – stretch marks on his stomach, and he needs a knee operation – but is determined to keep on keeping trim.

“I said to myself I wanted to be the best shape I could possibly be by the time I was 40 in September – that’s the aim,” said Jamie.

Now a firm advocate of Herbalife, Jamie is happy to help others lose weight. He can be contacted on 07941 071108.
