AROUND 60 per cent of adults in Redditch have had their first Covid-19 vaccine jab, according to NHS data.

It shows that since December, 44,230 people in the town have received either the Pfizer or the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.

Redditch MP Rachel Maclean, who had the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine in March, said the town had reached a ‘significant milestone’ in the fight against coronavirus.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank NHS workers and Knights Pharmacy for their herculean efforts in getting these life-saving jabs into peoples’ arms.

“The vaccines are safe, effective and we know they are already saving lives. Please, when you’re called up to get vaccinated, get the jab.

“These vaccines are the light at the end of the tunnel and our way out of this pandemic.”

More than 333,500 people have been vaccinated (at least one dose) in the whole of Worcestershire.

In the UK the figure stands at almost 34million, with a further 12million having had their second jab.
