REDDITCH Nightstop at the Old Needle Works is calling on people from across the borough to brave the cold and help raise vital funds and awareness by giving up their warm beds and sleeping rough for a night.
The ‘Sleep-Out’ event is aimed at supporting the people who are actually homeless and do sleep out on the streets.
Susan Sadler, project manager at Nightstop, said: “We passionately believe no one should face a frightening and dangerous night in the cold.
“We urge people to come along for what will be an insightful and thought-provoking event.
“It will also raise money for our important work.”
The charity helps prevent young people aged 16 to 25 from sleeping on the streets by providing emergency and long term accommodation in the homes of fully trained hosts.
They then support that person to get back on their feet and into a working environment if possible.
Each volunteer who signs up to the challenge will be given the task of raising their own funds individually through sponsorship.
They then just have to set up a JustGiving page and work towards hitting their goal by getting friends and family to donate.
On the night, sleepers will be required to build their own shelter – a method used to educate people on what life is really like being homeless.
“You must bring warm clothes and a sleeping bag to wrap up in,” said Susan.
“We really do hope you can join us because it will be an experience you will never forget.”
The sleep out is on October 12 deadline to sign up for the event is Friday, October 5.
