Smiles all round as Redditch Lifesavers take home gold and silver medals

REDDITCH Lifesavers are celebrating five swimmers in their cohort who have been awarded a Distinction in the National Lifesaving Academy Awards.

RLSS UK Distinction Award is the highest achievement within the National Lifesaving Academy – it recognises exceptional life-saving excellence, dedication and consistent performance across water safety, first aid, CPR and rescue skills.

To achieve the Distinction Award the candidates must have achieved their bronze medallion and completed an assistant instructor award or completed a minimum of 30 hours of volunteering at the club.

The group also had success at the Rookie Lifeguard Festival (South) which took place at Sandwell Aquatic last month.

The team entered two teams in age categories eight to 11 and 12 to 14, taking home gold and silver medals respectively, beating South Worcester LSC, Lower Wick LSC, Rest Bay SLSC and Kore Sandwell in the process.
