THE Alcester heat of the International Rotary Public Speaking Competition was held on Monday night and what a hotly-contested event it proved to be.
Five teams from three schools competed for the opportunity to move into the next district round in Solihull.
“Alcester Academy, St Benedict’s and Alcester Grammar School all gave splendid performances covering a wide range of topics from school examinations to the meaning of love,” said Rotarian Mike Gittus.
However, there could only be one winner on the night and it was Alcester Grammar School which provided the best performance.
Mike Brain, President of Alcester Alauna Rotary, had the privilege of presenting the awards to the winners – Iris Kirkland, Evie Beard and Cheyenne Keogh.
Mr Gittus, the Master of Ceremonies, thanked all the competitors and judges for making the evening such a success.
