THIEVES raided a roadside snack bar this week and stole everything inside – emptying the till, stealing knives, eating sandwiches and even taking a charity collection box.
The catering van, which is parked roadside in Washford, was broken into between 2pm on Wednesday (June 28) and 5am on Thursday (June 29).
As well as causing damage to the van the thieves stole a collection box for Redditch charity Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation (CCSHF).
The CCSHF which was set up by Redditch’s Rob and Maggie Underwood in 2011 to provide the local community with defibrillators, relies on support from the community to buy the life-saving machines.
Jacqui Wilson, who owns and runs the van, said: “I am so upset to think that someone could do this.
“They stole my stock and my knives, so I can’t trade properly, and they’ve caused damage to the van too. But it’s not really about that to me – that can all be replaced.
“I just feel terrible that a deserving local charity has been deprived of much need donations.”
Jacqui has supported CCSHF at her van since she opened it three years ago, and thinks of Rob and Maggie as personal friends.
Maggie Underwood, co-founder of the CCSHF, said: “Jacqui has supported us for a long time. To hear that they not only caused damage and stole food, but also took our charity pot – we are gutted.
“Everything we do is in memory of our two angels, to help provide funds to place more lifesaving equipment to protect our communities.
“Maybe one day they will realise the magnitude of their selfish act.”
The Foundation was set up after the Underwood’s daughter Charlotte died suddenly n December 2010 of Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome.
Anyone who has any information about the theft can call police on 101 quoting incident number 92s of 29 June.
