A PHOTOGRAPHY enthusiast is snap happy after capturing £500 in the Specsavers So Redditch 50th anniversary Photo Competition.

The store in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre teamed up with the Standard to run the contest which challenged residents to capture what Redditch means to them in a picture.

Webheath resident Roger Reeves took first prize of £500 to spend at Jessops for his beautiful shot of Forge Mill Needle Museum.

Mr Reeves said: “I used to live in Meadow Hill Crescent and play there a lot and I was taking a friend for a walk around some old haunts and I just took it, at what was totally the wrong time of the day.”

Runner-ups were Debbie Degge of Southcrest for her picture of the bandstand and fountain on Church Green and Jane

Greenfield of Batchley, who chose Bacthley Pond as her iconic location. Both win a pair of designer specs.

The winning images, along with a selection of other entries, are on show in a vacant unit in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre until the end of August.
