SINGER / songwriter Euan Blackman is beating the isolation blues by re-releasing his debut single in an unplugged style – with all proceeds going to charity.
‘Think About You’ was released by the Alcester student back in March, complete with driving beats and jangly guitars.
Now it’s gone acoustic with banjo, mandolin and guitar, drums and tambourine.
It really is catchy – the original received airplay on 20 radio stations – and with all proceeds from its sale going to NHS Charities Together supporting workers on the frontline fighting coronavirus, it’s for a good cause too.
The song is accompanied by a video of Euan playing all the instruments from the comfort of his bedroom.
“I was trying to think of things that would work in the house,” said Euan, who attends LIPA – the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts which was founded by Sir Paul McCartney and Mark Featherstone-Witty.
“So I thought I would strip the song down into more of a country style which would reflect on the words.
“It’s a more honest and raw rendition of the song.”
More in the style of Jason Isbell and The Jayhawks, it’s a significant change from the power rock song it started out as.
He’s also been kept busy working on a string of deadlines for his LIPA assignments and helping his brother Jack’s live stream concerts
on Facebook.
The song is out today, Thursday, May 7, and you can watch the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YrOVbkTxCw&feature=youtu.be
