Splash for cash - Redditch pupils raise charity funds by cleaning cars

IF there are a lot of clean cars around Redditch just now it may well be down to the efforts of pupils at Church Hill Middle School.

The youngsters told their teacher Matthew Purslow that, having supported the Food Bank at Christmas, they wanted to continue their work on community awareness.

The children duly chose Redditch Night Stop and on St Valentine’s Day, February 14, a Year 7 class showed ‘love’ to the cars of the staff in the school who had paid to have them cleaned in aid of the charity.

In total the class cleaned 13 cars and raised more than £70 for Night Stop in the process.

Last Wednesday, February 26 Sharon Holtom from Redditch Night Stop visited the school to thank pupils for their endeavours and to give a presentation to Key Stage 3 students on its work.

“We are incredibly proud of our pupils and their commitment to supporting the local community through all their hard work and for their compassionate outlook in supporting others,” said a school spokeswoman.
