St Augustine's and St Bede's at heart of new academy grouping

Redditch Editorial 29th Sep, 2021   0

A NEW multi academy trust encompassing four Redditch schools – including St Augustine’s and St Bede’s, has been formed.

Called Our Lady of the Magnificat Multi-Academy, it was formed earlier this month and now includes 12 schools covering a geographical area from Broadway to Leamington Spa, making it the largest family of schools in the Archdiocese of Birmingham.

And it has plans to double in size over the next 12 months.

Joining St Augustine’s – rated Outstanding by Ofsted – are St Benedict’s in Alcester and Trinity in Leamington Spa, along with one middle school – St Bede’s – as well as five primary schools and three first schools, two in Redditch.

Tom Leverage, chief executive of the new trust said: “This is an exciting time, a new multi-academy provides opportunity for people from across different schools, with unique skills and wide experiences to come together and provide the highest quality of education for every child and young person we serve.”

The multi academy has already launched a Sixth Form Consortium – Your Future Life which is aimed at going beyond the academic and to ensure every student attending Sixth Form at St Augustine’s, St Benedict’s or Trinity has access to bespoke destination pathway advice. Claire Paddock, strategic lead, said: “We aim to give our students access to a wider curriculum, including an extensive enrichment programme, that will allow every student to achieve whatever they aspire to be.”

The central team for the new organisation will be based in Redditch at The Oaks business park with two additional central hubs at Trinity Catholic School and St Benedict’s Catholic High School.

“There are many exciting projects underway for our multi-academy and I am looking forward to our future as we continue to grow and develop,” said Tom.
