ST STEPHEN’S Church has welcomed the newly ordained Pioneer Curate Sarah-Jayne Hewitt.
Sarah-Jayne underwent her ordination at Worcester Cathedral July 3.
She became an unofficial lay leader in 1996 at Studley Church where she joined the music group, led many services and started new schemes.
She become official in 2005 and moved to Stratford-Upon-Avon in 2010 where she helped to run an alternative service on Saturdays.
Her job saw her run a fund-raising consultancy to help charities across the world raise funds from bids and applications.
In 2013 she was appointed as a Lay Stipendiary Missioner, which involved her pioneering new communities in Evesham and working with local churches.
After a few years her role was extended to the Deanery of Evesham which enabled her to give advice to a wider group of ministers.
While in Evesham Sarah-Jayne accidentally started a new church in an unused mission hall, holding breakfast and informal worship.
Sarah-Jayne said she was ‘so excited’ to be in Redditch.
“I’m looking forward to finding out what God has in store for me here and what madcap adventures we will go on together.”
