MORE than £5,000 has been raised by staff and shoppers at Redditch Morrisons in a fund-raising drive to mark World Cancer Day.
Store community champion Bev Allington said they’d been hoping to smash last year’s total of £3,300 and was overwhelmed by the response from Redditch residents.
“We want to thank everyone who has donated or performed or who just came to chat about their loved ones,” she said.
“I feel that the community has really embraced this year’s World Cancer Day and we as a store have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the public.”
This year’s event featured beard shaves, bucket collections and lots of music from the likes of Charlotte the Singing Midwife and topped by local singing star Mitch Loveridge performing on World Cancer Day itself, Tuesday, February 4.
All the money raised will go to Clic Sargent Young Lives vs Cancer.
