Stores - including Debenhams - ready to re-open at Kingfisher

Redditch Editorial 5th Jun, 2020   0

MORE shops have got the green light to re-open at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre following the government recent announcement.

Non-essential shops in the centre are able to reopen following the easing of restrictions from June 15, including Debenhams.

However the Vue cinema, gym and eat-in restaurants will remain closed until restrictions on leisure businesses are eased further.

Centre management say they have undertaken extensive planning and consultation with the authorities, retailers and service providers to ensure the health and wellbeing of shoppers and staff.

These include close monitoring of those entering the complex with visitor volume managed to maintain sufficient open areas for people to meet social distancing requirements and to protect themselves, occupiers and staff.

If numbers increase access to the centre will be controlled with numbers accessing balanced with numbers leaving.

People will be also advised on the best times to visit the centre with updates on Kingfisher’s website and social media channels.

Ken Williams, centre manager, said: “Kingfisher has stayed open for essential stores since lockdown was implemented and provided free parking throughout the period for visitors and essential store staff.

“During this time, we have been carefully managing the flow of people through our centre. As more retailers reopen, we want to ensure visitors to Kingfisher feel safe and comfortable.

“We have taken a number of precautionary measures within the centre which includes enhanced deep cleaning and building ventilation, as well as making PPE available for all our employees.

“To encourage social distancing, arrows and signage will be in place throughout the centre with limited numbers of people able to access toilet facilities, stairs, lifts and escalators.

“We very much look forward to welcoming our retailers and community back to our centre”.

Visitors should expect changes in the access to and movement through the centre and when inside individual shops.

They will also be expected to adhere to government guidance on social distancing and the measures put in place to safeguard themselves, and others.

Whilst there continues to be a risk of transmission of coronavirus visitors are asked:

· Not to enter the centre if you are experiencing any of the Covid-19 symptoms

· Maintain a distance of at least two metres from all other members of the public

· Strictly observe the centre’s social distancing measures as instructed by staff and stores
