Storm Francis sparks warning of strong winds and rain for region

Redditch Editorial 24th Aug, 2020   0

WITH Storm Francis on its way this evening, Monday, August 24, residents are being reminded to stay safe and report damage through to Worcestershire Highways.

Spells of heavy rain are forecast, and winds are set to get progressively worse during tomorrow morning and afternoon.

They will remain strong during tomorrow evening and the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Anyone who sees a problem with a fallen tree or significant debris is encouraged to report it to Worcestershire County Council Highways.

This can be done by contacting @WorcsTravel on Twitter or by telephone – 01905 854676 (9am to 5pm) or 01905 765765 (evening and weekends).

Jon Fraser, Worcestershire County Council Highways said: “With winds set to pick up across Worcestershire in the next few days, it’s really important that we work with our residents to repair any damage as quickly as possible.

If you spot an issue in your local area, please report it via Worcs Travel on Twitter or by ringing the Highways Control Centre. As well as our teams, we will have specialist tree contractors on standby. We will continue to monitor the weather closely and are ready to react to any issues.”

Please remember to only call 999 if there is a risk of harm or threat to life or if there is a crime.
