TV comic John Challis enjoyed a sell out trip to Redditch when he visited the town’s Waterstones branch on Saturday.

The star of Only Fools and Horses and its spin-off The Green Green Grass was promoting his latest autobiography – but in the end he proved so popular the store sold out of Boysie and Beyond and its predecessor, Boycie.

“He was very well received and shortly after he left he tweeted us to say what a wonderful time he’d had and how well organised the entire event had been.” said shop manager Andrew Middleton.

Mr Challis is also unlikely to be the last big name to visit the store as plans are afoot to bring popular writer Annie Murray, author of Birmingham Rose, to Redditch in May.
