Students across Redditch celebrate 'fantastic' GCSE results

Redditch Editorial 22nd Aug, 2024   0

STUDENTS across Redditch celebrated their GCSE results today.

Arrow Vale High School, part of the Central Region Schools Trust, had its highest ever percentage of Grade 7s in both English and maths, testament to the dedication of the students and staff.

The whole academy community is incredibly proud of its students, many who are now looking forward to progressing onto their A levels at the school.

Matthew Mok successfully achieved grade 9 in maths, chemistry, physics and further maths, along with a grade 8 in chemistry and Zara Claridge, earned nine GCSEs all at Grade 7 or above.

Evan Walker successfully achieved Grade 9 in English language, maths and geography, alongside five others at grade 7 or above.

Tom Lewington achieved nine GCSEs all at Grade 7 or above, including grade 9 in English literature and geography.

Emily Warren achieved three Grade 9s in History, English language and film studies and all of her grades were at Grade 7 or above.

Congratulations to all students in Year 11 at St Benedict’s Catholic High School who have attained exceptional results this year.

Principal Ms Paddock stated, “We are so proud of every student collecting their results today.

“They are an incredibly positive and cohesive group of students who will be fondly remembered for years to come.

“I would like to thank all staff and parents for the work and support they have provided – it is much appreciated.”

It is pleasing to note that 73 per cent of students achieved a grade 4 or above in English and Maths, a 10 per cent uplift.

Many of our pupils achieved the highest of grades with an outstanding 20 per cent of pupils in English, 17 per cent in Mathematics and a staggering 36 per cent in Religious Education achieving Grades 9-7.

Individual pupil highlights this year include Issabelle Shurmer with two Grade 9s and Jakub Przyborowski and Jarno Beamish who both secured a consistent set of results with six Grade 8’s each.
