Studley care home residents fundraise for new bed at the Alex

A STUDLEY care home has donated a brand-new bed to the Alexandra Hospital’s Stephen Bailey suite, a private end of life suite where families can spend time with their loved ones.

Staff and residents at Haywood Lodge dedicated their Easter Fun Day to fundraising for the hospital, holding an Easter egg hunt, a bonnet making session, a raffle and a BBQ for the local community.

The event raised over £250 and saw the purchase of a fold-away bed to donate to patients and families who use the Stephen Bailey suite.

Haywood Lode resident, Brenda Radbourne, said: “Our Easter fundraiser was lots of fun and I think the donation is such a lovely thing to do.

“We are planning another fundraiser for the hospital, and I am really looking forward to it.”

Brenda and the Home Manager at Haywood Lodge, Georgia Cooney, took the new bed to Alexandra Hospital and thanked the staff for all of their hard work. Georgia said: “We hope this bed will provide patients and their families with more opportunities to spend quality time together.

“We also wanted to show our appreciation to the staff on the wards for the care and support they offer to so many people so we took them some goodies too.”

Ward Manager, Gincy John, said: “We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for your effort and kind gesture to fundraise for the bed.

“I am sure the families of patients who use the suite will benefit from it.”
