STUDLEY Castle hotel in Warwickshire re-opened last weekend following a £50million injection from new owners Warner Leisure Hotels.

Guests cheered and raised glasses of fizz as the Grade ll-listed building was announced officially open by Warwickshire County Councillor Clive Rickhards during the ribbon cutting on April 13.

They were also up on their feet as well-known Radio 2 DJ Jo Whiley hit the decks – bringing along a range of musical talent with her.

A spokesperson from Warner Leisure said: “While we’re not 100 per cent finished with our refurbishment we’re very happy with the results so far.

“Everyone appeared to be having a great time on our launch weekend and we’re looking forward to many more great nights in the future.”

The refurbishment of the 19th Century property marked the largest investment ever undertaken by Warner, which owns 14 hotels in the UK.

Just over half of the massive sum – around £26million – was spent on re-instating original features.

The rest of the cash was spent on a new gin bar, two restaurants, a luxurious spa and cinema room.

Liverpudlian singer Joe Slater, two piece act Gee Jay and the hotel’s resident band New Dynamics also took to the stage to keep guest entertained throughout the weekend.
