Studley High School performs one of the greatest musicals of all time

STUDLEY High School successfully performed one of the greatest musicals of all time, receiving standing ovations.

Grease was directed by the school’s performing arts leader Olivia Hinde and musical director Gayle Bussey.

The show was staged for three nights and there was a matinee for local junior schoolchildren.

All the well-known characters featured in their show, including iconic couple Danny Zuko and Sandy, the ‘Pink Ladies’ and the ‘T-Birds’.

The audience clapped and sang-along to the accompanying live band who performed all the favourites, such as ‘Greased Lightning’, ‘Summer Nights’ and ‘You’re The One That I Want’.

The show incorporated a set created by the school’s art and technology departments including a car, a bed for the Pink Ladies and a hand-painted backdrop scenery.

The students and staff involved in the performance, whether costume, backstage or lighting worked incredibly hard over a course of six months to create the musical masterpiece.

Any contributions made to the rehearsal process and the final performances were greatly appreciated.

The school had not performed since 2003, so Grease was a big hit and an achievement too.

Studley High School hopes this is the first of many shows like this.
