Studley High to be a Teaching School

STUDLEY High School – already rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted – has been selected to become a National Teaching School.

Working with an alliance of local schools under the name ‘The Shires Teaching School Alliance’ it means the Crooks Lane seat of learning will be instructing the next generation of teachers in the profession.

In addition the school’s head, Lee Gray, is one of more than 90 headteachers to be appointed to the role of national leader of education (NLE) in the latest recruitment round.

The move is an accolade for both the school and all its staff who will be working with various schools across South Warwickshire and Worcestershire to share best practice and help support schools facing challenging circumstances.

“We are delighted that the strengths of our school and its staff have enabled us to become a National Teaching School,” said Mr Gray, who has only been in post for two years.

Roger Pope, chair of the National College for Teaching and Leadership, said: “I’d like to congratulate Studley High School and Lee Gray on being designated as a teaching school and a national leader of education. They should be very proud of this achievement.

“Teaching schools and NLEs are at the heart of school improvement. They’re supporting other schools, attracting and training the best new teachers and developing the next generation of leaders. At NCTL, we want to do all we can to support their work.”
