IT’S International Women’s Day on Tuesday, March 8, and some of the hard working women of Studley got together recently to highlight the contribution they make to life in the village.

“I felt that all of us do these jobs around Studley and so often it’s in the background and the contribution of so many women goes unrecognised,” said mum of two Liza Rose, who works for Studley Parish Council.

“So I thought it would be appropriate, with International Women’s Day just around the corner, to pull a few of us together as a symbol of the work all the women of the village do to make it what it is.”

Joining Liza was parish clerk Jill Lungley, her colleague Kathryn Walters, Julie Palmer, the village’s popular High Street lollipop lady, Sian Smith, chair of Studley in Business, Scout Leader Karen Marshall, Parish Councillor Jill Beard and Jen Stone the the community theatre company Aunty Jen’s Productions.

“It’s just lovely to have the work of women in the village recognised,” said Liza.
