Studley mum collects Christmas advent calendars for children in hospital

A MUM is asking people to donate their Christmas advent calendars to Birmingham Children’s Hospital this year.

Joanna Stevens, from Studley, came up with the heartwarming idea in October, along with her four children Harry, aged nine, Joe, 13, Jess, six and Charlie, four.

They decided to donate their calendars but also wondered if anyone else would be interested in doing the same.

Joanna posted on the ‘Studley Matters’ Facebook page and received a great response from local people.

Since then, 54 calendars have been dropped off at the family’s house.

“Even though it’s only a small gesture we just want to help in any way we can,” said Joanna.

“Our aim is to have 300 advent calendars donated by November 25 so we can deliver them to the hospital before December 1.”

Studley High School, having caught the campaign, will also be collecting calendars.

Joanna added: “I just want to thank everyone in Studley for their kind donations so far and everyone who has got involved.

“It’s been overwhelming.”

To donate simply drop off a calendar at 25 The Grove, Studley, B80 7QL.

There will be a box outside the family’s home to put them in.
