A STUDLEY resident will appear on national television alongside Phillip Schofield tonight (Saturday) when she succumbs to the power of international mentallist, Keith Barry on ITV’s ‘You’re Back In The Room’.
Carolyn Phillips will star alongside four other contestants on the ITV hypnotism game show at 8.30pm.
The programme sees the contestants, who are complete strangers, take on a series of simple games under the power of hypnosis which is convincing them the task is actually much harder than it appears.
And the game gets tougher as the hypnotic triggers cause the contestants to unwittingly sabotage their chances of winning a cash prize.
Carolyn, who applied for the show in September last year, had to undertake three screen-tests before she heard she was one of the lucky applicants – out of the 3,000 that applied.
She said: “I can’t wait to see what it’s like. I’m quite sceptical when it comes things like this but I jumped at the chance to apply – I’ve definitely ticked something off my bucket list.”
The 38-year-old added she was ‘absolutely chuffed to bits’ when she heard she had been selected even though she can be quite shy and had never done anything like it before.
The show’s second episode will see one contestant led to believe they are Phillip Schofield’s best man while Carolyn targets everyone in sight with a fire extinguisher and believes she is a chameleon.
Speaking about her experience under hypnosis, Carolyn said she couldn’t quite describe it.
“It’s like when you have a dream and then you remember parts of it – when we were watching the footage it brought some of it back.”
