Studley set for big Christmas lights switch on, live on Facebook

Ross Crawford 27th Nov, 2020

THE big Christmas Lights switch on in Studley is going virtual this year – but that doesn’t mean there won’t be any festive fun in the run up to the big day.

This year, the switch on will be live on Facebook at 6.30pm this Friday, November 27 – simply search for Studley Christmas Lights Switch On.

“Obviously this year is different, and the message this year is stay local, shop local and support your village,” said Sian Smith, chair of Studley in Business.

“We can’t have a market, but we can do other things – and we’ve even got an ‘Elf Hunt’ for the children with all the money raised going to Studley Christmas Lights.”

The hunt is a thoroughly modern take on a treasure hunt which will lead families to many of the great businesses in the village.

“The cheeky elves are hiding with the letters to Santa‚Äôs computer password!

“The children have to find all the missing letters to work out the secret phrase – but be warned there are some rogue ones in there too.”

“It will be a two week race against time to save Christmas, and we have some great prizes to give away too.”

The competition closes on December 11.

All money raised will go to the Studley Christmas Lights fund.

Also in the pipeline is the village’s panto Sleeping Beauty by Aunty Jen Productions playing at Studley Sports Centre from December 12. Buy tickets at www.auntyjenproductions.co.uk.

Spend it in Studley is a campaign supported by Studley in Business which has more than 50 members – find out more at www.studleyinbusiness.co.uk.
