THE big Christmas Lights switch on in Studley is going virtual this year – but that doesn’t mean there won’t be any festive fun in the run up to the big day.
This year, the switch on will be live on Facebook at 6.30pm this Friday, November 27 – simply search for Studley Christmas Lights Switch On.
“Obviously this year is different, and the message this year is stay local, shop local and support your village,” said Sian Smith, chair of Studley in Business.
“We can’t have a market, but we can do other things – and we’ve even got an ‘Elf Hunt’ for the children with all the money raised going to Studley Christmas Lights.”
The hunt is a thoroughly modern take on a treasure hunt which will lead families to many of the great businesses in the village.
“The cheeky elves are hiding with the letters to Santa’s computer password!
“The children have to find all the missing letters to work out the secret phrase – but be warned there are some rogue ones in there too.”
“It will be a two week race against time to save Christmas, and we have some great prizes to give away too.”
The competition closes on December 11.
