Studley Stitchers dedicate post box topper to GCSE and A-level students

GCSE and A-level students in Studley have had a special post box topper dedicated to them as they wait for results day.

The Studley Stitchers have installed a new crocheted creation designed to wish Year 11s and 13s good luck as they face a long wait until the middle of August to find out what their grades are.

The knits are the work of between nine and 14 women who take great pleasure in bringing joy to the village with their clever 3D models which look more like works of art than simple stitching.

The group recently commemorated the 80th anniversary of D-Day in June with three designs featuring planes and tanks and have also made four summer-themed toppers.

Founder Jan Platt told the Standard the idea came about as a couple in the group had children who had just taken their exams.

“The Stitchers wanted to support all those who have been studying hard and wish them well in their exams,” she said.

“It is lovely that Studley High School has seen the toppers and really loves the whole ethos behind them – that is school and community working together to support the young people of the village.”

The good luck toppers can be found near the recreation ground on the junction of Station Road and Crookes Lane.

A-level results day is Thursday, August 15 and GCSE results are out a week later on Thursday 22.
