THE STUDLEY Stitchers have unveiled their latest topper creations – this time with a spring theme.
The knits, including Beatrix Potter characters and chicks, have been installed on post boxes and bollards around the village.
The small group of largely anonymous knitters have evolved over the past two years from one decorated box to six.
Residents old and young are visiting the boxes to take photos to share with their families and friends.
Diane Dutton, from the group, said: “We were extremely lucky to meet a new postman when we were installing them, so he posed for pictures with the rainbow ducks – welcome to him.
“The minute the new toppers were up we started on our next project which will obviously be the King’s Coronation.
“But, as ever, the installation date is a secret as are our members.
“We also have a lot of plans afoot for the summer which hopefully will include a summer activity for the children during the school holidays and marking local events that take place in August.”
The yarn bombing started when a member of the group saw something similar on holiday and thought it would brighten up the village.
Since the first Easter topper was displayed, the group has grown to the 12 knitters and crocheters.
Studley Parish Council has also approved a grant to enable the group to carry on creating.
