STUDLEY’S Hannah Hampton saved two penalties as the Lionesses won the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 title with a dramatic shootout victory against world champions Spain.

England reclaimed the trophy they won three years ago as Hampton denied both Mariona Caldentey and Aitana Bonmati from the spot in the penalty shootout.

The Lionesses eventually secured a 3-1 victory on penalties as substitute Chloe Kelly blasted home after Salma Paralluelo sent her effort wide for Spain in Switzerland.

England have now become back-to-back European champions under the guidance of head coach Sarina Wiegman.

And the Lionesses are the first senior England football team to win a major competition overseas.

Spain took the lead courtesy of Caldentey’s header on 25 minutes at St. Jakob-Park only for Alessia Russo to nod Kelly’s cross into the net on 57 minutes to draw England level.

The Lionesses withstood plenty of pressure in extra time but held firm to take the game to a shootout.

And Hampton played a starring role as she kept out efforts from Caldentey and current The Best FIFA Women’s player of the year Bonmati to help England to a historic victory.

The 24-year-old played every minute possible at the tournament and also made crucial penalty saves against Sweden at the quarter-final stage.
