Stunning tribute to talented young musician Colton Bryan

A STUNNING mural tribute has been painted in memory of local musician Colton Bryan who died last week following a stabbing in Redditch.

Colton, aged 22, was killed at his Guinness Close home last Wednesday evening, July 15.

Now his friend, Redditch artist Jonas Zelinka, has painted an incredible tribute to the popular saxophonist who had wowed the crowds on stage at Morton Stanley Festival in 2018.

It can be seen on the wall of the Warwick Bar car park on Ipsley Street.

Jonas said: “I’m no good with words, but I can paint and so I did.

“Colton deserves to shine and be remembered. I’ve had his family’s blessing to do so as well as their help with details so it would be exactly what Colton would have loved.”

Jonas, aged 31, said he had known Colton for about seven years.

“He used to live just a few houses away from me,” he said.

“I used to listen to his playing on the saxophone from my garden and we had plans for the future.

“I’m close to his family so this is something I wanted to give them all.”

He urged people to get involved with a social media campaign launched by Colton’s family and friends at hashtag #justiceforcoltonbryan to bring the tragic death of the talented young man to as wide an audience as possible.

Police yesterday (Tuesday, July 21) arrested a man on suspicion of murdering Mr Bryan.

The man, who is in his 20s, was arrested at around 12:30pm and remains in police custody.

He has not been named.

Another man, Adam Carpenter, has been charged with conspiring to commit robbery.

Carpenter, aged 20, was arrested in Weston-super-Mare at 3am on Saturday, July 18 and taken to Kidderminster Police Station.

The Wharrington Hill resident will appear at Kidderminster Magistrates Court today (July 22).
