A REDDITCH-based army reservist been selected from more than 100 junior soldiers to win an award for outstanding service.
Signalman Jack Thompson is a member of the 37th Signals Regiment, headquartered in Redditch, and was presented with the Poulters’ Plate by the Worshipful Company of Poulters.
The Poulters are an historic livery company of the City of London dating back to the 12th Century, who have a long tradition of association with the militias and reserve forces.
The award is given to the best performing junior soldier across 37th Signal Regiment, which has bases across the Midlands and the north of England.
Signalman Thompson, who lives in Alcester, was recommended for the award after a year in which he planned a number of recruitment events and took part in a two-week deployment to the Falkland Islands.
Sig Thompson said: “It was a fantastic experience. I couldn’t be prouder.”
