Success on the cards for Redditch school in sports competition

A REDDITCH school has been showing off its sporting prowess after a series of wins.

St Bede’s Year six girls football team took part in the district competition at Woodfield on November 8.

The girls started extremely well, beating Astwood Bank 4-0, then, they went on to beat Woodfield 4-0 and Church Hill 1-0 in the league.

St Bede’s then beat Walkwood 1-0 in the semi finals and became champions after a 3-0 victory over Birchensale 3-0.

Last Friday, St Bede’s hosted the annual District Table Tennis competition against teams from Woodrush, Birchensale and Church Hill.

In total, 15 teams of four took part, providing lots of opportunities for all pupils to play against different opponents and test their skill levels.

St Bede’s A side were the winners and the C side picked up third place.

St Bede’s assistant headteacher, Mr Russell, said: “A massive well done to all pupils who took part and an even bigger thank you to St Bede’s Sport Leaders for umpiring and making the event run so smoothly.”
