A REDDITCH all girls football team have been playing their socks off after being declared district winners.

The players, pupils in year six at St Bede’s Catholic Middle School, played four games in total winning three and losing the fourth.

Success was also on the cards for St Bede’s year seven girls, who put in a fine performance at the District 9-aside football tournament, remaining unbeaten throughout.

The team won games against Ipsley C of E Middle School, Church Hill Middle School, Woodrush High School and Woodfield Academy.

PE teacher, Mr West said “The standard of play from all of the competing teams is testament to how the girls’ game has developed in the town.

“We are extremely proud of all of the girls for this superb achievement, it proves that all of the hard work in training since the start of term has paid off.

“The quality of the football played by all teams was of a superb standard, demonstrating the development of the game for girls in Redditch.”
