Success on the timetable as Redditch finds out their GCSE results

Redditch Editorial 25th Aug, 2022 Updated: 25th Aug, 2022   0

THE WAIT was finally over for GCSE students across Redditch and the rest of the country today when they received their results and got to see if all their hard work had paid off.

Pupils discovered if they had got the grades they needed to move onto sixth-form, college, other training or employment.

These were the first exams held for three years because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the pass rate across the country, as predicted prior to results day, had fallen compared to last year but was higher than 2019.

Among those celebrating were students from Trinity High School, who enjoyed a fantastic set of results.

Many of the students managed to secure a Grade 7,8 or 9 across all of their exams, including James Clarke, Leo Keyte, Connor Mackness Millie Tomlin and Freya Harley.

Headteacher Nigel Ford said the students have demonstrated “tremendous resilience and hard work” to achieve such high grades.

“It was wonderful to share such a lovely morning with the Year 11 students and staff celebrating a strong set of GCSE and BTEC results.

“This year’s results also reflect the energy, efforts and tenacity of our fantastic group of Trinity staff who have gone ‘the extra mile’ to ensure that students achieve despite the challenges of the last few years.”

Also celebrating were Year 11 students at Arrow Vale RSA Academy.

There have been so many exceptional results, including Tinotenda Siantumba who achieved 5 grade 9s and is continuing his studies at Arrow Vale taking Physics, Chemistry and Maths A level.

Billy Garey who achieved grade 8 or higher in every single one of his subjects.

Ellie Booker who achieved grade 9 in English Literature, a Distinction Star in ICT and has chosen to continue at Arrow Vale studying Spanish, Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A level.

Kacy Robinson achieved all grade 7-9s in her subjects and will take English, Biology and Psychology with Arrow Vale next year.

Ian Mellor, Headteacher at Arrow Vale RSA Academy, said: “After last week’s fantastic A Level Results, the entire school is once again overjoyed by the continued success of our students.

“This set of GCSE results highlights the resilience and hard work of our Year 11 students, as well as the dedication of the entire teaching and support staff network.”

St Augustine’s Catholic High School students have achieved a terrific set of results, with early indications that students have achieved nearly a grade higher than expected.

The school managed 88 Grade 9 scores, while 30 per cent of students achieved grades 9-7 and 83 per cent received five 9-4 grades.

Principal Gerald O’Connor said: “I am really pleased for our students and very proud of their achievements; great credit is due to them, the teaching staff for their hard work and parents/carers for their ongoing support.

“These truly excellent results give the students a robust foundation on which to move into our outstanding Sixth Form to embark on their post-16 studies.”
