LONG-standing campaigner Susan Juned has been selected by Redditch & Inkberrow Liberal Democrats to be the Liberal Democrat candidate for Redditch in the June General Election.

Susan has lived in the nearby town of Alcester for 30 years. She has recently retired from working as an environmental consultant and researcher at Birmingham University.

She represented Alcester on Warwickshire County Council for 12 years and was also a district councillor until 2014. She was the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Stratford-on-Avon in three general elections.

Susan has a doctorate in Environmental Biology and her work has focused on helping universities with their research and with councils and communities who want to make better choices to reflect their social and environmental impacts.

Her priorities are to:

. address the major changes in the way Adult Social Care and the NHS will work together in the future

. education for young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds

. poor air quality

. a sustainable economy and support for small businesses.

‘’ I am very pleased to be selected as your parliamentary candidate,” she said.

“In this General Election I believe it is very important to make the case against a hard Brexit, which would damage the British economy and the livelihoods of people in Redditch.

“I will also strongly defend Redditch’s hospital. It is essential that we keep existing services at the Alexandra Hospital and fight for the restoration of maternity and children’s services.’’
